Quit stressin' »
This past weekend, I went to Borders to meet up with a writer buddy/mommy friend of mine. We let it all out and talked about any and everything: the kids, the husband, the career, our fears, our hopes and dreams, our desires.
We made good conversation for more than three hours, barely noticing the darkening sky outside. It was heavenly. I was able to get some things off my chest, help my friend get a better glimpse of herself and her bright future, and just spend some time child-free and husband-free.
It felt …

Found this little nugget of wisdom on the Finding Erykah blog. I haven’t read all of her posts, but the ones I have read are refreshing honest. A 30something mom with a tween daughter, she has a way with words that makes me pause after sentences, after paragraphs and say to myself, “Hmm. Never thought of it that way.” Long story short, she’s one bad blogger. Take her words to heart - it will change your life:
My advice to any new mother young or old is to cherish it. Don’t …

So a friend-of-a-friend recently found out she was pregnant. Wonderful news, right? I think so.
But apparently, my friend is already thinking about how to tell her boss. It’s still pretty early (not too many people know about it) and according to the friend, her boss hates married women and women with families.
FAN-tastic. (Catch the sarcasm?)
So she wants to know: How to break the news?
Well, for me, it was particularly awkward.
I had JUST accepted a full-time position.
My boss has really pulled for me to get this position and this salary.
Another co-worker in …

I love these posts the most because I usually get the best responses. I’m blessed to have so many wonderful, intelligent, resourceful moms stop by. I’m in awe of you all sometimes.
Here is the latest dilemma a reader has regarding potty training her son:
My little guy is 3 years old and while he shows all the signs of being ready, he just likes his diapers. What can we do? Is there anything that worked really well for anyone else?
Well, I’m currently potty training my 2.5 year old and I have …

A friend of mine from high school opened up this question to me. Let’s see if we can help her out:
“I am starting my first “big girl” job in about a week and a half. As a young professional who doesn’t have much money starting before my first paycheck, where the heck can young women get nice, quality clothes for a relatively reasonable price?”
Simple enough question it seems. But I realized I couldn’t really help her out. I’m struggling with this issue myself. I’m tired of running to Old Navy …

So you’ve made your resolutions, right?
Probably the same ones you make every year, although this year’s list might sound a little like this:
Read more books.
Lose the baby weight.
Don’t get pregnant again.
Save more money.
Be a better mother/wife/girlfriend/friend/daughter.
Do NOT (under any circumstances) get pregnant again.
No? It’s just me? Oh, okay.
But to make sure you don’t even up having to make the same resolutions year after year, here are a few tidbits to help you stay on track:
Make your goals prominent. Put a little Post-It on your computer monitor, write it in a …
Keeping money in your pocket »
While I’m not exactly living paycheck to paycheck, I don’t exactly get the appeal of spending tons of cash on my kids clothes. Why buy $40 shoes for a newborn? Or even for a kid under 5?
As my daughter is getting older and I can’t just toss a onesie on her and go, I have to be conscious about how much I’m spending on her clothes. A co-worker with three babies of her own hipped me to Once Upon A Child.
Now I’ve seen the cutesy looking signs hanging outside the …
