Yesterday I told my husband I wanted to go to culinary school.
Yes, I know I have absolutely no time to go to culinary school (heck, I’m already in school). But I love cooking almost as much as I love writing. I go out to dinner at a restaurant and I jot down the tastes and flavors of my dish and figure out a way to kick it up a notch and cut the fat when I make it at home.
I’m serious about this, y’all. The fact that my husband and kids couldn’t care less about my culinary adventures? It does not deter me! (Okay, sometimes it does. Darn kids.)
Every time I post a recipe on here, someone always says, “Post more recipes! I don’t know how to cook. Help me!” Then I realized that cooking, for me at least, isn’t really about finding recipes and keeping them handy, but more about knowing what my tongue likes and finding those ingredients to suit my cravings.
I keep these 8 ingredients on hand to make what I call “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” meals. (Click on each image for a larger image, description and price.) I bet you probably already use at least three of them.
Tell me – what ingredients do you keep in the kitchen to make sure you can get dinner on the table early?
