{Self-Care Challenge} Day #3 – Identify A Daily Pick-Me-Up

Our challenge is coming right along. Make sure you check out the challenges from day #1 and day #2!

Day #3 – Identify a daily pick-me-up.

When life is getting to be a bit much (the kids won’t stop screaming, you got stuck in traffic, your husband/boyfriend is getting on your nerves), what do you do? How do you relieve that stress?

Two things to note:

1) It has to be pretty accessible. Your daily pick-me-up thing can’t be running off to Vegas or taking a road trip. It has to be something you can reasonably fit in within the day.

2) It has to be affordable. If you feel your stress melt away during a $60 full body massage, that’s great – but I don’t even know you and I know you can’t afford to do that every day. So pick something that’s budget-friendly and will get you back on the happy side of life in no time.

My pick-me-ups? Well, I don’t mind if I do.

1) Scrubs on Netflix. Love, love, love this show. Watching med school students fumble their way through hilarious mishaps? Oh, yes.

2) Sex and the City reruns. I get lost in the shoes, in the friendships, in NYC. It’s great escapism for an hour or so.

3) 30 minutes on the elliptical. I hate it so much, but I feel great when I’m done.

4) Hot chocolate or tea. Something about holding a warm cup in my hand makes me feel nice and cozy and helps melt the stress away.

Your task? Identify one (or two!) pick-me-ups that you can implement the next time you got so much stress you can’t even think straight. Share your favorite pick-me-up in the comments!

Comments

  1. My daily pick me ups are:

peppermint-chamomile or raspberry peach tea (buy the flavors separately, unless you know a brand that sells them together-TELL ME! LOL. Both are amazing combos),

or Grey’s Anatomy reruns (Seasons 1-7 are on Netflix, Season 8 so far is on ABC.com).

I also find that having a few high energy songs on blast (or headphones are a great trick for you moms with napping age kids.) I like Ciara’s “Click Flash,” Jessie J’s “Domino” and Pink’s “Raise Your Glass.”

  2. I like Celestial Seasonings True Blueberry Tea makes me smile inside and out. Also a good dramedy eases my heart. I <3 Grey's Anatomy too! But WEEDS Season 7 has me addicted. I watch Season 1-5 on Netflix instant, Season 6 on Netflix dvd and on Demand watching 7 NOW!! I realize painting knickknacks and doodads relaxes me on even a good coloring page lol!

  3. I love Bigelow Pomegrante Green Tea, that always relaxes me and makes me happy! :-) I also enjoy reading blogs, and watching mindless TV (e.g. Real Housewives of ATL, Love & Hip Hop)!

  4. An ice cold Pepsi and an uptempo dance song or a big laugh that has tears running down amy face and I can’t breathe. :)

  5. You’re so young and innocent focusing on the positive pick me ups. Most moms I know drink alcohol. I really need to find some more wholesome friends!!! :-)
