{Fearless Friday} Simple Motivation

I heard Dave Chappelle say this on Inside the Actors’ Studio and it has been etched on my heart ever since:

“You know you’ve made an impact with your life when everything before you is obsolete, and everything after you bears your mark.”

Ladies, make your mark. Listen to your gut. When you’re scared to try something new, it’s usually a sign that you’re on the right path. If you stumble, get up and brush your knees off. Try again.

When you get discouraged, imagine you’ll reach success on your next try. How much would it suck if you gave up right before your goal was in sight?

Don’t listen to other people who say that your goal is unrealistic. Your goals are your goals.

Take a moment to be still and plot your next move. Do it the purely emotional way (“I feel called to be a ______”) and then look at it financially (“I need to bring in $X each month so we don’t end up homeless”). Then look at where the two meet. That’s where you start.

Find friends who support you in your dreams and don’t let them go. Cut ties with anyone who stands as a serious roadblock to progress.

Remember, above all else, WHY you are doing what you do. You were made for it.
