We did it

Hard to believe this blog is older than one of my kids, but it is. Happy 2nd birthday, Young Mommy Life!

Check out what I wrote for my first post, titled (What else?) “Welcome.”

Sometimes it’s hard for me to believe that I, at 22, could be in the position to do this website. When I was 18, I made a “10-year plan” and having babies wasn’t supposed to happen for at least four more years.

But life happens.

Now I’m the proud momma of an 18-month-old diva and about seven months pregnant with baby #2. Whew! Some days I don’t know if I’m doing the best job I can be and other days I feel great about my mommy skills.

But one thing I’ve always struggled with is the fact that most parenting magazines, websites, etc., don’t speak to me. They always advertise $500 strollers and show you how to throw a fabulous 1st birthday party under $200. I can’t afford that. They talk about relationship struggles that I don’t have, body issues I haven’t yet come across, or job struggles that I’m sure I’ll never have.

What about the young mom? The under-25 mom who, despite what society might think, is completely dedicated to creating the best life for her kids. What about us?

So that’s why I created this site, as a place to share ideas about what works for us. The young mommy has a completely different set of concerns than those in the over-30 crowd and I want to help find solutions.

Motherhood is by far the hardest job in the world – let’s help each other make the most of it!

I’m still glad I started this blog. It has created many opportunities for me, but most of all, I have made some true friends out this, so I consider all those sleepless nights and lunch break blogging days totally worth it.

Thank you for all that you have contributed. Thank you for being you, for coming here, for trusting me to tell our story, for relating to the ups and downs that I post, for being open minded and fair and considerate.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

    • @Chocolate Mom – I get so much out of blogging in this space that it’s not even funny. I love meeting new people, checking out new blogs and helping young moms feel just a little less lonely. :) We’re all in this together!
