The Young Mom Summit is the brainchild of Tara Pringle Jefferson, a former student-parent who was frustrated at the lack of resources and support for parenting students.
In May 2013, she graduated with her Master’s in Family Studies from Kent State University. Her thesis, Challenges, Opportunities and Sources of Support for Undergraduate Mothers Attending College at a Four-Year Institution, examined the lives of five student-parents. Building off her research, she created the Young Mom Summit, a one-day support symposium for parenting students.
The first Young Mom Summit will be held in Kent, Ohio, in November 2013. Stay tuned for more details.
