What This God-Awful Winter Has Taught Me About Myself

1. All I want to do is stay inside and eat. Which is exactly what I do.

2. I love my kids but seven snow days mixed in with holidays and teacher in-service means I am pushed the very limits of my patience and spend most of those hours looking and sounding like:

3. I realize that hibernating during the winter has lead to some weight gain but I’m just like:

4. How I look whenever I finally do venture outside:

5. My ambition drops whenever the temp is below 20:

6. I do not like my friends in the South this time of year, who try to empathize by saying, “Yeah, it snowed here too.”

How are you surviving the cold?

  1. I can relate to all of this! I think I must have packed on at least 20 pounds AFTER the holiday season. Except, even with all the snow storms, and slicked roads and sidewalks we still don’t get any snow days. So I’m kind of thankful for that ha ha.

  2. Funny!

  3. Snow and super cold temps definitely make me more prone to snacking and eating a little bit heartier than I should.

  4. This had me laughing the whole time. Yes! I think I snacked way too much this winter and it’s not the cold weather that bothers be, it’s the heat in the house because of the cold weather that bothers me. I just hate being warm! I need to focus on some serious workout time.

  5. Charlene says:

Ha! This winter was horrible for all of us! I live in MI and it was the worst winter in my entire life. We still have snow on the ground from before Christmas Day that is just getting around to melting. And now there’s ice everywhere. I can relate on every single one of these things.

It’s starting to warm up but barely. Right now 30 degrees seems “warm”. I’m going to do cartwheels when Spring officially kicks in. We will be outside as much as possible.

Tara, when summer comes you should have BBQs, eat lunch and breakfast outside daily…EVERYTHING outside.

    • @Charlene – Yessssss!! I’ll be cooking everything on the grill and will move my desk to my front porch. LOL

  6. I guess this would be a bad time to tell you it’s 80 degrees here >_> lol
