My Family’s First Amusement Park Trip – Cedar Point, Sandusky, Ohio

Part of being a blogger is connecting with brands and companies. I used to resist this aspect of blogging because to me, that’s not why I do this. I blog to inspire, to uplift, to encourage and to provide support. But recently I’ve come to enjoy it because I’m able to meet new people and give my family different experiences.

This past week we were invited to come to Cedar Point on behalf of a collaboration between the amusement park and Mom Bloggers Club. I jumped at the chance since I hadn’t been to Cedar Point in over a decade, even though I only live about 1.5 hours away. Plus, my kids (who are 5 and 4) have never been an amusement park! I felt like I was slipping as a mom. LOL. I also wanted to go because they had a new “Dinosaurs Alive” exhibit (see the picture?) and my son is crazy about his dinos.

Now, if you know anything about Cedar Point, it’s known for its rollercoasters. Voted top amusement park in the world for a gazillion years now, Cedar Point has the second-most rollercoasters of any park.

I am not a rollercoaster gal. I mean, they look cool, I bet you get a great rush being that close to death (lol), but you will not catch me on one. You will not. I will sit on the bench, holding phones and bags while you go have fun. I do not like the steel rollercoasters, I do not like the wooden rollercoasters, I do not like them at all.

Despite my aversion to heights and things that go way too damn fast, I had a great time. My kids were tall enough to ride all the rides in the children’s areas and they wanted to go on rides again and again and again. Here’s my son’s favorite ride, the Woodstock Express. Keep in mind, that even this size rollercoaster is too much for me.

*shudders* DO.NOT.LIKE. And don’t call me a baby.

The park was fun. Every time I thought, “Okay, this has to be the back of the park,” I’d check the map and realize, nope, there’s a whole slew of rides we haven’t even seen around the next bend. We were able to meet up with some of the other moms who were invited when it was time for lunch.

Cedar Point gave us a great lunch, something you might not expect from an amusement park. We had fresh fruit, pasta salad, garden salad, chicken salad sandwiches, chicken nuggets, chips and cookies! Oh, and ice cream. :) You feed me and my family and I’m a happy gal!

If I had any suggestions for you, here’s a few tips:

  • Bring a spray bottle filled it with water. I usually do this, but I forgot and we were roasting all day.
  • Make sure your kids wear visors or hats!
  • Buy your tickets online and save money.
  • Even if you have bigger kids, bring a stroller or a wagon or something. I have my “mom purse” and it’s filled to the brim with junk for the kids. I’m so glad I could stuff that thing under the stroller and give my shoulders some relief!
Have you been traveling this summer? Where have you gone?
