sweating it out

I’ve been carrying around a good 15 pounds of baby weight since my son was born. Last August. As in, August 2008. And it’s all in my middle. Ugh.

I’m getting tired of always having to wear wrap shirts and wrap dresses and long shirts and things that camouflage my belly.

I hate sucking in my stomach. There, I said it. I have sucked in my stomach every day for the past five years (maybe longer) but I am tired of it. (I even used to suck in my stomach when I was pregnant – how crazy is that? I didn’t mean to, but my mind was so used to it that I had to focus to make sure I remembered to let go of my stomach muscles.)

*sigh*

So I started a workout plan. Instead of waiting for New Year’s, I started right before Thanksgiving. I’ve been getting up at 5:30 to do my 30 Day Shred DVD and while the workouts are killer, I would probably see more results if I did them every day. I’m down about 3 pounds (yay me!) and haven’t really modified my diet much. That’s the next step.

I’m calling this my “Sweating for Better Sex” workout plan. I’m so self-conscious about my extra weight that it is definitely impacting, um, other areas. I don’t feel as cute as I used to, and I want to feel as cute as I used to.

It’s been hard, though. I love cake. Love it, love it, love it! I wish I could make a cake every Sunday and eat it every day throughout the week and once Sunday came around it would be gone and I would have to make another one.

But cake doesn’t love me. *insert sad face here* Actually no, I take that back. Cake does love me. It loves me so much that it decides to hug my belly and thighs and never let me go. I’m convinced my hips are still holding on to cakes and brownies that I ate in 2007.

So I’m doing this. I’m making changes. I’ve MADE changes. These 5:30 a.m. workouts are killer. But they are good for me. I actually *gasp* like them.

Stay tuned. To keep myself accountable, I will post before and after pictures. HOWEVER, because I’m a punk, I won’t be posting the “before” picture until I am pretty confident with the after. LOL!

What about you? Any weight loss goals for 2010?
