My Christmas Menu And Yearly Traditions + $25 Walmart Giveaway

I don’t get as into the food on Christmas as I do for Thanksgiving (planning my Thanksgiving menu was a month-long event) but still, what I’m eating is a big part of any holiday gathering I’m hosting.

What I like most about Christmas is Christmas morning. It’s very rare that you wake up and you’re excited about what’s to come. Most of the time you’re dragging yourself out of bed, cursing your lack of sleep and trying to make it through the day. But Christmas? Christmas is a gift in and of itself. Everyone’s off work (well, most people are), there’s no expectations other than unwrap presents, eat and enjoy family.

But one of my yearly traditions is to make a big Christmas brunch. Something really hearty to knock us right back out! LOL. Here’s my menu for this year’s Christmas festivities:

When I was growing up, Christmas was a big deal. My parents worked hard all year to make sure we could have a great time opening gifts we’d truly enjoy. One year, they put all our gifts in big red Santa sacks, like Ol’ St. Nick just tossed them down the chimney and bounced.  I thought it was the coolest thing.

Think of the money they saved on wrapping paper!

With my kids, I try to get the most bang for my buck. I love them, but I’m not interested in going broke just for one day. So I try to shop at places where I can stretch a dollar and Walmart happens to be one of those places. I also love how I can pick up those last-minute dinner items as well as toys and gifts. It’s great one-stop shopping for a busy mom on a budget! Plus they have some of the hottest holiday toys.

To help you stretch your dollar, I’m again teaming up with Walmart to give one lucky reader a $25 Walmart gift card! The contest ends December 22, 2012. To win the $25 Walmart gift card, follow the instructions in the Rafflecopter below:

I want the gift card!!! I need the gift card!!

  2. My parents made Christmas special every year as well, so you can imagine that I do the same. I like to hear all the paper being torn and seeing it flying in the air, although a sack is also a cute idea.
