Let’s Get Crafty: Lindsey B. Joins Us From Canada

I became a different person when I became a mother. It’s a transformation we all feel to some degree when that little bundle is placed in our arms for the first time. Priorities change, points-of-view are altered, and suddenly your whole heart is living on the outside, playing on the floor with his favourite toys.

I wasn’t shocked by this; I knew it was inevitable. The feeling, however, is something I could never completely describe to anyone. You have to experience it yourself to really understand it, as I suspect many of you readers already have. I think the best we can do is try to hold on to whatever bits of ourselves that we can and infuse our own personalities into our child-raising techniques. For me, that means DIY parenting. I craft, cook and create at every opportunity.

A writer by trade, I started blogging nearly two-and-a-half years ago as a creative outlet — a place to write for me and share some of my Martha-wannabe behaviours with the world. Just like my life, my blog has evolved. In the past five years, I’ve been laid off, fine-tuned my career, got married, got a new job, and welcomed a son.

As a Canadian mum, I’m am extremely lucky to get to spend a whole year at home with my babe on maternity leave. Now, at seven months into motherhood, I’m examining the work-or-not-to-work question, contemplating child-care options and focusing on having lots of silly fun with my sweet boy.

Come on by and leave a note at my humble little blog (www.likeahamsteronawheel.ca) and let’s chat on Twitter (@lbunin). Looking forward to chatting, sharing and DIYing with you all!

  1. I can’t craft, I’m a horrible cook, and my idea of DIY is…well, I have no idea. I don’t do things myself! So I pretty much NEED YOU – ha! Looking forward to your posts.

  2. I also love to craft. I haven’t been too crafty around the house, but I have a special love for scrapbooking and crocheting. Looking forward to seeing some of your projects!
