Greetings From California: Amber Joins The YML Crew

Hello YML mamas!

I’m so thrilled to be a guest blogger for The Young Mommy Life because I sincerely love this site! Tara has a way of writing that makes you feel like she wrote each post just for you and I love the sense of community she has built here.

I live in sunny Southern California, where, contrary to what Tony! Toni! Tone! may have told you, it does rain on occasion! I work full-time in student affairs at a university and hold a master’s degree in communication studies. I also dabble in event planning on the side, but that’s enough with the surface stuff! Here are some other juicy deets (okay, maybe not that juicy) about my life that I hope will help you get to know me better!

The Ring. I’m married to the cutest geek ever! He’s smart, silly, and sexy all wrapped up into one. What makes him sexy, you ask? The fact that he loves me, loves God, and loves being a stay-at-home-dad. Yep…you read that right – I’m married to Mr. Mom! Now that’s hot, no?! We’ve been married for almost five years and I honestly can’t remember what life was like before him – and I seriously couldn’t imagine what life would be like without him.

The Rattle. I joined the “mommy-hood” in December of last year and we’re still very much in the honeymoon stage of parenting! My baby girl, whom we lovingly call C.C. (short for Chocolate Chip because she’s so deliciously brown and sweet!), is almost 5 months old and a certified heart-stealer. Although most days I have absolutely no clue what I’m doing, I love being a mom and am honored that God chose me to be hers.

The Writing: I had been blogging for about three years before I started my current blog, The Yeyo Diaries (pronounced yay-yo). I created the blog not too long after finding out that I was pregnant as a way to document my journey into motherhood for the first time. I describe it as: telling the raw and lovely truth about motherhood because…well…it’s not always bubbles and butterflies when you have a child. Sometimes it’s hard (raw) but the love we feel for our children makes it worth it (lovely).

I look forward to reading, writing, and engaging with all of you!
