A damn good mother

Do you know how long it took me to be able to say that? And really mean it?

I mean, here I am, with two wonderful kids. They love to learn and they love laughing and they’re polite (most of the time) and they just make you want to have more babies. (Although we know it ain’t happening in the YoungMommy household)

I feel like I must be doing something right if my kids teacher can’t stop raving about how much they know. They rarely get sick and when they do, I drop everything and they’re better in a hurry. They always have clean clothes no matter how far I fall behind in the laundry and their little bellies are full every night. We live in a good area. Our bills get paid.

I’m doing it. I’m living a good life. My kids are here with me. They arrived early to be sure, but they’re here now. We scrambled to make up for being unprepared and now we’ve found our groove.

I think.

Being laid off recently threw us for a loop and for the briefest of moments I panicked a little, feeling like maybe all the anti-young parent people were right. Maybe I should have waited. Built up more savings so that when things like this happened, I’d be ready.

But guess what? I WAS ready. We DID have savings. I DO have income coming in now. And best of all, I get to be with them MORE.

I win. All you punks who said young mothers make bad mothers? I got two words for ya.

I win.

Gone Tara!!!!! Yes, momma, we WIN. we stare defeat in the face and stomp on its head. We have built up a ton of strength and we know that we in fact, “got this.”
I applaud you and all Young Mommies who are kicking butt and taking names!

  3. You are awesome! Love, love, love it. You are so on it in so many ways. Things always come together even during adversity. There are more opportunities and doors that you will open in the future. Keep your head up.

  4. Get.it.SAID! I aint’ even mad. We need to pump ourselves up like this more often because nobody is harder on us than we are on ourselves. But the reality is that most of us by anyone’s definition are damn good mothers. We just need to know it and bask in it ourselves.

As for being laid off, I feel you. Been there as recently as this spring. Regardless of what happens, God is our source, not our paychecks.

  5. Girl, you so deserve to give yourself props because people are so quick to point out what they think you cannot do well. Sometimes it feels great to know that you are at that point of motherhood that you never imagined when you were a new mommy.

  6. WE WIN!!! (doing a victory dance)

  7. You win, I win, we all win :)
