Challenge #1 – Buy some new nail polish

Now don’t give me the side eye – this is a good beginning. Baby steps, ladies, baby steps.

Go to the store, wherever you usually buy nail polish and check out the colors. If you don’t wear nail polish (party pooper), then pick another beauty item. Shampoo, body lotion, face wash, etc. Pick something that you would normally pick up and then quickly put back because you thought it “wasn’t for you.”

Maybe it’s a darker shade than you usually wear. Maybe it’s a more expensive brand. (Are y’all still wearing Wet N Wild?) Whatever it is, pick it up and pay for it. Don’t talk yourself out of it.

Then go home, lock yourself in the bathroom if you have to, but take your time putting it on. I started with the nail polish because it forces you to pay attention to yourself for the time it takes you to paint your nails and wait for it to dry.

So quit reading – go to the store and get some sexy colors. Remember, a #HappyMom is a better mom! :)

Tomorrow – new challenge!

Comments

  1. I did it! My husband was looking at me funny when I told him that I don’t care how much he doesn’t like the smell of nail polish, and let me tell you I already feel a little sexier.

  2. I did it! I bought HOT PINK yesterday – I usually wear black or dark purple, but I changed it up this time around! Even painted the toe nails to go with it! I feel better already! :)

  3. Found your page via The Prissy Mommy Chronicles. I love the challenge that you are creating. I will definitely be participating, will pick up polish on my way home today. Looking forward to the other challenges.

  4. I will defintely be joining the HappyMommy Challenge! And I usually paint my 4-yr olds nails as a bonding activity with her, and I will be painting my toenails a hunter green tonight!

  5. I am going to do it I am going to do my nails tonight I did a much lighter tone than usual. I also bought a nail kit so that I can give myself a manicure(sp) as well!

  6. Ok, I’m going to CVS, and it may or may not be Wet N Wild, but it’ll be new and it will be nail polish! I haven’t done my nails in months (since like, September to be exact). Painting my nails always makes me feel like a woman

  7. Absolutely LOVE the idea of trying new nail polishes! That’s my “Rule #1” of picking polish on purpose. (You can check out my “rules” here: http://www.maryfoley.com/blog/live-like-your-nail-color/36-my-2-rules-for-picking-nail-polish)

Right now I have a hot pink “Girlfriend We Gotta” talk on my fingers and a red “Chip Happens” on my toes!

Here’s to trying something new and living like your nail color!
