It’s my anniversary!

Wow. One year ago I started the Young Mommy Life.

I imagined it would be our little place on the internet, where we would be respected and our positions in life would be supported and congratulated.

We wouldn’t be statistics.

Our opinions would matter.

We could greet each other with happiness and comraderie, not hostility and dismissiveness.

I think for the most part, I succeeded. You all are a great bunch of readers. I’ve “met” extraordinary women through this site and I’m happy to have you here to join the conversation.

There have been many days over this past year when I’ve questioned some of my choices: Am I working too much? Neglecting the kids? When was the last time I told my husband ‘I love you’?” Should I really try to get my Master’s this fall or would that be doing too much?

But then I’d get an e-mail from a reader saying how much they could relate and how their life gets challenging too sometimes, but they can see pieces of their life play out on this blog, so it’s not so bad. They can deal with it. I use those e-mails and comments as inspiration, y’all.

I get downright giddy when I see new comments and I have ALWAYS made it my policy to try to reply to EACH and EVERY comment. Some comments – the ones that just say “LOL” or “So true!” – I don’t respond to, but I do make it a point to let you know that I hear you and I appreciate you coming by.

So this is just a big hearty thanks letting you know how much your presence is needed in my life. Being a young mom isn’t easy but you all make it better.

Thanks a million.

  2. Hey Tara!

CONGRATS on your one-year anniversary! I want to be just like you someday!:) You have so much to be proud of! I really respect and look up to you for being able to juggle all that you do. (I’m having trouble handling my start-up and my students…I don’t know what I’d do if I had kids also.) But, when I do get married and have kids, I’ll definitely remember (and continue to read) your words of wisdom and inspiraton because they will be sure to get me through. Congrats, again!

  8. Happy Anniversary Tara!! Thanks so much for starting this blog. Because of you, we young mommies have a place where we can lend our understanding, support, share great tips, get a good laugh and so much more. Your blog was exactly what I needed when I discovered it a few months ago and I have told all of my friends about it. Congratulations!! :)

    • @Erica – Thank you much! I honestly just want to help connect young moms, help them find each other. I want to use my website for good. LOL. I’m glad I met you and a bunch of other moms because a year ago I was staring at the wall like, “Man, am I the only one???”
