I’m probably one of the most ambitious people you will ever meet. (Or whose blog you read, since you don’t know me IRL.)
Wanted to be a writer since I was a little girl marking up my mom’s walls with crayons. (Which she’s still mad about, by the way.) So I’ve made that a big part of my life. I’m in PR, which meaning there’s a lot of writing and storytelling with my job.
Then there’s my second job. And that’s where you come in.
On the side I’m a freelance writer and editor, writing for a few websites you’ve heard of and tons more that you haven’t. Over the past couple of months, I’ve been chugging away here and there, putting together a basic framework for my book.
Yes, a book.
And it’s dedicated to you.
Across page two is a big fat dedication to all the young moms who work hard every day trying to do right by their children and themselves. Who might have given up the last few years of their youth to devote themselves to motherhood and raise children who will grow up to be something special. Who, despite what society thinks, makes huge sacrifices day in and day out to provide for the kids that make life worth living.
But in order to get a variety of viewpoints (and not just my own) I need your help. I need the stories of real young moms, who know intimately what it’s like to be a 20something mom and have lived to tell the tale.
Got something to share? Hit me up at youngmommychronicles@gmail.com and we’ll go from there!
Update: One of my commenters asked for more detail about the book so here it is. It’s basically a look at the challenges young mothers face in their personal and professional lives in the oh-so important first years of their child’s life. I’m looking for moms to give insight on what they felt they did right, what they would change if given the chance, and what they consider essential for young moms to know. Kind of like a “Been there, done that” look at motherhood for those who are still freaked out by the title. Hope this helps gives clarity to what I’m looking for!

Yep. Its official. You are totally AWESOME! =)
You’re an inspiration for the passionate writer who is still buried deep inside of me. She wants to emerge to tell her tale of being a young mommy and full time college student. I’ll have her to email you.
I’d love to help. What kind of stories do you want, exactly? Provide some basic guidelines. (ie. is this a collection of young mommy stories or a fictional spin on a true story?) I think it’s a great idea. I, too, am working on a book (fiction). It feels good to know there are a few of us writers out there.
