There’s something about having vinyl floors in your kitchen and a kid in socks that just doesn’t mix. At least once a day, my daughter will go sliding across the floor as she absentmindedly comes in to ask me a question or demand ask that I hurry up and refill her cup with more “appy juice.”
She has one pair of those slipper socks with the nubbies on the bottom, but
she’s worn them down a bit and after almost a year of washing, they’re not as sturdy as they used to be.
So when I was flipping through my old issues of Real Simple, and I saw this project you could do with your kids, I stopped. Get a bottle or two of puffy paint, some plain socks and you’re done!
I’m sure my daughter will appreciate anything that will keep her from falling on her butt ten times a day. This one definitely gets filed away in the “Things I must do so my kids don’t crack their skulls open” file. It’ll be right next to “Get these toys organized and off the floor.”

Thanks for the tip. I’m going to try this on the bottom of my grandson’s one-piece footed PJs that he gets a thrill out of sliding across the floor in.
That sounds like an awesome project.
I did that when my boys were little. The socks you do yourself don’t hold up as well as the store bought ones, but you can draw cute designs onto the bottoms, so it’s kind of a trade off.
