As soon as Obama won on November 4, I knew I was going to be front and center to see that man put his hand on the Bible and swear the Presidential Oath. And I was determined to bring the kids.
Well, never mind now.
The circumstances around this event are so un-kid-friendly it’s not even funny. No strollers, no bags, no chairs. Freezing weather. Butt-to-butt crowds. Traffic jams. Freezing weather. Hungry babies. Plus, IT’S GOING TO BE COLD. (Can you tell I hate cold weather with a passion?)
They’re expecting 2 million to 4 million people on the National Mall. A 2-mile strip of land. Oh my.
So as much as I want to be there to witness that history, I might just take the day off from work and snuggle up on the couch next to the hubby and eat popcorn (and maybe some Obama cookies?)
If I get tickets (which is a big IF, since everyone and their greatgrandmother is planning to attend, I have to win tickets in the lottery), I am probably going to go. I have to. But it’s too bad my kids won’t be able to witness this moment with me.
Ah, well. I’ll make sure to bring back lots of pics for them
What about you all? Planning on going to the inauguration? Taking the day off to watch it at home? Or going to work like always?

I wish! I’ll be with the crowd on the couch watching from the comforts of home. That just isn’t the same thing as being there though. I mean, this is going to be THEE event to be at, even if you wont be able to see through the crowd. Just to be able to say, “I was there” is absolutely priceless. I might have to plan an Obama Inauguration party with some more mother friends so that we can share the joy of watching history be made together.
You will have to make sure you share those pictures with us too.
You could eat the Obama cookies off of an Obama commemorative plate.
I wish I could go just to say, “I was there”. But it aint happening. I don’t like crowds and this is going to be the crowd of all crowds. I hope I don’t have to work that day. That way snookems and I can cuddle up together and watch it up front on the big screen
We live in the DC burbs so we’ll be there plus we’ve got some family coming up from Atlanta to join us. It’s going to be a place where you just want to say you were there for history. I went to the mmm and it was the same kind of deal They had jumbo monitors everywhere and speakers so you could hear but you felt good to be a part of something so symbolic. I’ll be shooting video and taking a gang of pictures that will go up on our site.
I wanted to be there too but a lot of people (the negative Nellies and Nates) discouraged me. I normally wouldn’t give in to these kinds of people but I did some deeper thinking (uh oh) and decided that we were better off watching it at home.
I don’t like the cold either and the crowds would be to much for me. I’d want to slap somebody just for brushing up against me, lol! So I’ll just stay home and stay out of jail for causing a riot.
It’s going to be such a historic event. I do wish I could be there. O-BA-MA!!!!
